Questions about accounts

Your RRSP will remain an RRSP until you fully withdraw it or convert it to a RRIF.

Note that you can continue to contribute to your RRSP even after retirement as long as you have available RRSP contribution room. This can sometimes be useful when you have gains involving significant taxable gains (sales of rental properties, capital gain on non-registered investments, etc.).

You can contribute to your RRSP until December 31 of the year in which you turn 71. It is not possible to contribute in the first 60 days of the year following the one in which you turn 71. There is no minimum age to contribute to an RRSP. It is of course essential to ensure that RRSP contribution room is available to contribute to your RRSP. To contribute more than $2,000, you must be 18 years old. 

You can contribute to your RRSP until December 31st of the year in which you turn 71. Please note that it is not possible to contribute in the first 60 days of the year following the one in which you turn 71.

Your RRSP must be converted into a RRIF before December 31 of the year in which you turn 71.

You can contribute to your TFSA from the year you turn 18. Note that your TFSA rights begin to accumulate from the year you turn 18. Please note that you accumulate TFSA contribution room only for the years in which you are a Canadian resident.

Questions about fees

As shown in our prospectus, for all complete transfers from a registered plan to another financial institution, the transfer fee is $150 (excluding taxes).

When you transfer an account of $5,000 or more to FÉRIQUE Investment Services, we reimburse you the transfer fees up to a maximum of $150. In order for us to refund your transfer fee, you will need to provide us with a copy of a document showing the fee paid for your transfer. To send us your document on the Client Portal, go to the My documents section (upper right corner of your screen). The zone for secure sending of documents is located at the bottom of the page.

You will find this information on your Quarterly Statement for the period ending December 31st. The information is contained in the Fees and Remuneration Report section of the document.

FÉRIQUE Investment Services (FÉRIQUE) offers a mortgage referral service with our partner nesto. FÉRIQUE will in not be a creditor of your mortgage in any way. We offer the service for the benefit of our customers who will be able to receive a discount of 0.15% of the amount of their mortgage (to be invested in FÉRIQUE Funds). Questions about opening an account

There are three easy ways to open an account:

  1. Open an online account on the Portal or the mobile application; or
  2. Call the FÉRIQUE Investment Services Advisory team at 514-788-6485 (toll free 1-800-291-0337), between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; or
  3. Make an appointment with an advisor on the Contact Us page.

The minimum initial amount to start is $500 per Fund. You can also buy units of a fund by Pre-Authorized Contributions (PAC). For PACs, the minimum amount is $50 per Fund.

Here is a list of documents and information to provide in order to analyze your retirement income: 

  • Current RRSP/TFSA/RESP contributions and unused contribution room to date
  • Current income (Salary, Rental income, etc.)
  • Retirement age
  • Investment statements other than FÉRIQUE (double-sided)
  • Value of your property
  • Statement of your pension fund, if applicable
  • QPP statement
  • Overview of your cost of living in retirement

Portfolio diversification is essential for your investment strategy. FÉRIQUE Portfolios are diversified investment solutions adapted to different investor profiles. With automatic rebalancing, they are generally an ideal investment solution. We recommend that you contact us so that we can discuss the fund exchange options that we could advise you based on your investor profile.

In order to rectify the situation, you must make a withdrawal of the excess amount According to the CRA site: For any year a holder has to pay tax on an excess TFSA, they must complete and submit Form RC243, Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) Declaration, and the RC243-SCH-A for Annex A.

On our side, we simply have to make a withdrawal of the excess amount. Please refer to the CRA's website page Examples – Tax payable on excess TFSA amount - Canada.ca.

A withdrawal or a purchase from an RESP can only be carried out by telephone. We invite you to call us at 514-788-6485 (toll free 1 800 291-0337), between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For Educational Assistance Payments, you must send us a copy of your child's proof of studies. Proof of registration is valid for 6 months after the end date of the study session and must include the following information:

  • Student name
  • Name of the establishment or internet address of the establishment
  • The name or code of the study program
  • Session (summer, fall, winter, spring) or (ex: 2012-01-01 to 2012-05-01)
  • Student status – full-time or part-time (we accept the number of credits, the number of hours)

The terms or amount of contributions to your group RRSP or TFSA are determined by your employment contract with your employer. Contact your payroll department to establish the amounts of your deductions.

To open your account online:

  1. Go to the Portal or on the FÉRIQUE app;
  2. Click on Start Investing;
  3. For Eligibility Criteria for FÉRIQUE Funds, select Participant in a FÉRIQUE group plan;
  4. Indicate the name of your employer so that we can link your account to the existing group plan;
  5. After determining your investor profile a FÉRIQUE Portfolio will be offered to you. In the days following your account opening, FÉRIQUE Investment Services will contact your employer in order to finalize your file.

There are 2 ways to invest: lump sum purchase or/and direct debit.

These 2 methods can be done independently for OPEN (non registered), TFSA and RRSP accounts using the Portal or the mobile application.

From the Client Portal, click on the Trade tab at the top to get started.

To invest amounts in RESPs, please contact us during our business hours at 514-788-6485 (toll free 1-800-291-0337), between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. .

To start a transfer request from another institution, please send us a statement of your investments via the secure sending of documents in the secure sending area of your client area, on the Portal. Go to the My documents section (upper right corner of your screen), the secure sending area is located at the bottom of the page.

Before proceeding with the HBP withdrawal, it is important to verify that your RRSP contributions must remain in the RRSP account for at least 90 days before you can withdraw them for the HBP.

If the 90-day rule is met, you can complete the T1036 form and share it with us via your portal's secure submission.

You can do this in the Client Portal independently or contact us by phone so that we can complete the transaction.
